From New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes a captivating story of love, second chances and new beginnings…

troublewithmistletoe-mm-c

If she has her way…

Willa Davis is wrangling puppies when Keane Winters stalks into her pet shop with frustration in his chocolate-brown eyes and a pink bedazzled cat carrier in his hand. He needs a kitty sitter, stat. But the last thing Willa needs is to rescue a guy who doesn’t even remember her…

…He’ll get nothing but coal in his stocking.

Saddled with his great-aunt’s Feline from Hell, Keane is desperate to leave her in someone else’s capable hands. But in spite of the fact that he’s sure he’s never seen the drop-dead gorgeous pet shop owner before, she seems to be mad at him…

Unless he tempers “naughty” with a special kind of nice…

Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing—but he doesn’t even remember her. How can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish–and let the mistletoe do its work…

My Review:

Willa has had a rough go at this thing called life. Even though she has been constantly kicked down, she still made a way for herself and has a pet store which she adores. After a long strong of picking terrible men, Willa decides to go on a men strike and give them up. Fate and the powers of a fountain unfortunately have other ideas.

Keane has been left in charge of his aunts evil cat. This sucker destroys everything in its path leaving Keane no option but to seek help which happens to be Willa and her little shop. From the minute he sees Willa he knows he wants her and bad but she has her walls up and doesn’t want anything to do with him. They have a past that he isn’t aware of and Willa is determined not to let him in on the problem. This doesn’t stop Keane from going after what he wants though.

I absolutely love all things Christmas so when they talk about Willa’s obsession and making her store look like Christmas threw up in there, I’m like YYYYYEEEESSSS. Willa loves to spread the Christmas cheer despite the lack of cheer she grew up with. I loved the banter between Willa and Keane. Neither of them would let anything slide which of course brings more steam between them. They were both such great people that despite their past and anything else they were perfect for each other and you can’t help sitting at the edge of your seat waiting for them to realize the same.

Jonte Williamson has a dream: become Nashville’s next big star. Finding herself unexpectedly homeless hot off the plane wasn’t part of her grand plan.

When Jonte stumbles into Cash’s bar, helping out the homeless country music wannabe is the last thing on his agenda. Pity someone forgot to send the memo to his too-big heart and meddling twin. Throw in a pair of baby blue cowboy boots, a pool table and a splash of tequila, and these two are set to ignite in a hot sexy mess! Will either of their hearts survive the tug-o-war between what they want and what they need?

Goodreads / Amazon

My Review:

Jonte moves to Nashville from Australia in hopes of following her dream of being a singer. Only problem is, everything falls apart within hours of getting in the city. Nowhere to live and no phone or computer, she stumbles into a rock bar and meets sexy Cash and his twin sister Dolly. Dolly decides to offer to help Jonte help through Cash but how do you just accept help from 2 strangers you just met even if one is incredibly hot.

Jonte promises her family 6 weeks to get on her feet and further her singing career or she will go back home. Cash makes it all possible but now the problem is how do they keep their feelings at bay when the future is unknown.

This book is seriously everything you could want in a romance novel. Sexy country boys, music, drama and good ol’ grandparents. Nanny and Pop were seriously one of my favorite characters especially when Jonte meets Nanny. I died. Their was so much romance and lust brewing all over the place. Seriously though, if you are reading this review then you need to go grab this book. You’ll get sucked in and love every second!

In early 2015, Lena and her family spent 5 weeks road tripping across the US. It was an amazing once in a lifetime family holiday and research for her debut series all rolled into one!

Daring the Bad Boy by Monica Murphy

Genre: YA Contemporary Romance

Release Date: August 22nd 2016

Entangled Teen Crush

Summary from Goodreads:

Truth or Dare was never this much fun…

Annie McFarland is sick of being a shy nobody. A session at summer camp seems like the perfect opportunity to reinvent herself—gain some confidence, kiss a boy, be whoever she wants to be. A few days in, she’s already set her sights on über-hottie Kyle. Too bad her fear of water keeps her away from the lake, where Kyle is always hanging out.

Jacob Fazio is at Camp Pine Ridge after one too many screw-ups. Junior counseling seems like punishment enough, but the rigid no-fraternizing-with-campers rules harsh his chill. When a night of Truth or Dare gets him roped into teaching Annie how to swim, she begs him to also teach her how to snag Kyle.

Late-night swim sessions turn into late-night kissing sessions…but there’s more on the line than just their hearts. If they get caught, Jake’s headed straight to juvie, but Annie’s more than ready to dare him to reveal the truth.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains references to drinking, sexual situations, adult language, and an intense bad boy hero who will melt your heart.

Excerpt:
Great. The rudest boy at camp just so happened to save my life. I hoped he wasn’t one of those types who expected me to be indebted to him for the rest of the summer or whatever.
I looked away and coughed, water filling my mouth so I had no choice but to avert my head and spit it out. My cheeks felt hot, and I couldn’t believe I was embarrassed, but old habits died hard, I guess.
He said nothing, just grabbed my hand and walked/ dragged me the rest of the way out of the water, until we were standing on the sandy beach. I heard feet thumping on the dock and I glanced up, watched in disbelief as the majority of my so-called friends and the boys from B7B ran off the dock. Not a one of them had stayed behind to see if I was okay.
Not a single one of them.
Were they scared they’d get in trouble? Would Jacob rat me out? He was the director’s nephew, after all. I needed to say something to him. I didn’t want to get in trouble. I didn’t want to be sent home, and I’m pretty sure he had the power to make both things happen.
Before I could say anything, though, Jacob grabbed my shoulders and gave them a little shake so I’d look up at him. His eyes were dark, his mouth set in a grim line, and he bent his knees a little so our gazes were even. “You really all right?” he asked, his tone firm.
I’d quit coughing, but my voice still came out slightly wheezy. “I’m fine.” My bones felt like jelly and I thought I might pass out from lack of oxygen, but yeah. I was great.
He squeezed my bare shoulders with his big hands, his fingers sliding over my thin bikini straps, and I realized I’d never stood this close to a boy before with so little clothing on. A shiver moved through me, and I tried to take a step back for much-needed distance, but he wouldn’t let me go.
“That was really stupid, jumping off the dock like that,” he said, his deep voice now full of irritation.
“Trust me, I wasn’t trying to impress you.” I couldn’t believe I’d said that. But I was offended that he basically just called me stupid.
“No kidding.” He released his hold on my shoulders and walked a few steps away, snatching up something off the beach. “And I definitely wasn’t impressed.”
I made an incredulous sound, one I usually saved for the privacy of my bedroom when no one else was around, and he sent me a look. I was reluctant to admit it was sort of a cute look, his dark eyebrows raised, as if he dared me to contradict him.
So I did.
“Are you going to write me up?” When he still said nothing, I continued. “You said you would earlier.” I glanced around, noticed that the dock was completely empty. Where was Kelsey, anyway? Did she leave me, too? “You want me to?” “N-no. O-of c-course n-not.” My teeth had started to chatter. I didn’t know if it was from the cold or the shock, or a combination of both, but I couldn’t make them stop.
“Did you bring a towel with you at least?” Jacob asked. When I shook my head, he muttered something that sounded distinctly like a curse word starting with the letter F. The sympathetic look he shot my way was surprising as he came back toward me, his hand thrust outward, a ball of fabric clutched in it. “Take this.”
I didn’t want him feeling sorry for me. And that didn’t look like a towel. “Wh-what i-is it?” I wrapped my arms around my middle, my fingers brushing against my goosebump-covered torso. I couldn’t stop shaking. It was like I had no control over my body.
He sighed and glanced to his left, then his right, like he wanted to make sure there was no one around before he stepped forward and stretched the dark fabric between his hands. “Don’t move,” he ordered, his tone bossy as he yanked the fabric over my head.
I jerked against his first touch, but otherwise I remained still. It was a giant hoodie that he slipped over my head. Warm and soft and a little sandy from when he’d abandoned it on the beach. The fabric clung to my damp skin and the hem fell to my thighs, covering me from my neck to almost my knees. I shoved my arms in the sleeves but they were so long, they swallowed my hands completely, even when I stretched my fingers out.
He stepped closer and reached behind my head, pulling the hood up so that it covered my soaked hair. Then he grabbed hold of the strings at the sweatshirt’s neck and tugged on them, so the hood cinched around my face tightly, his gaze never leaving mine. “Better?”
I nodded and took a deep breath, the shivering starting to subside, thank goodness. “Much.”
Jacob reached out and wiped one cheek, then the other, his thumb rough yet warm against my chilled skin. “You’re still wet.”
“I should p-probably take a shower.” I clamped my freezing lips shut. Why did I just say that? Showers meant naked, and I didn’t want to talk about getting naked with Jacob.

EXCERPT:

As I back out of her driveway, I’m left battling a live wire that’s come loose in my chest. Just the few moments I spent with her tonight have awakened something in me. Feelings I suppressed. Anger I’ve learned to let go of. Loss I’ve managed to cope with. And sadness I refused to let myself feel again.

Chloe Rivers.

I never thought I’d see her again, especially after the FOR SALE sign went up in her parent’s lawn. When Marco broke the news that she was coming back to housesit for the summer, I might have lost it a little. Not in front of Marco, of course. And it’s not like I punched a wall or started screaming or anything like that. That’s what Devon would have done. Not me.

The riptides of emotions I’ve bottled up over the past four years are capable of sending me into beast mode if I so desire, but that isn’t what happened. Instead, my heart began to race, sweat started beading at my scalp, and a flood of memories came sailing through, each one reminding me how badly Chloe Simone Rivers broke my heart.

I knew she’d be at the bar tonight. I also knew she would be surprised to see me. Marco has become a good friend—my best friend. He’s loyal. Not even Jazz knows the things we talk about, and I’d prefer to keep it that way.

The truth is, before walking into the musty bar, I wanted to see her. After four years, I was curious. What does she look like now? How does she dress? Does she still do that cute hair flip thing when she’s mad? Do her long lashes still scrape the top of her cheekbones when she closes her eyes?

But the moment I saw her again, something inside me, something that had been buried with my brother, rose to the surface. Everything about her screams familiarity, but she’s somehow … different. Her hair is as long as I remember it. She was beautiful back then, and she was radiant in the bar—even with the pain in her expression, the slump of her shoulders, and the flush in her cheeks as her eyes locked on mine. It was too much, too soon.

So I turned away, considering that possibly another day, preferably in a private place, would be a better time for us to talk. Or maybe there didn’t need to be another run-in. I got what I wanted. I saw her. She seems to be doing fine. But the pain in my chest won’t fucking go away when I think of her. Four years ago, she left without a single word.

What the hell was I doing? I was stupid to think that a surprise run-in with Chloe was the best thing for us. At that moment, as I walked away, my curiosity transformed into anger. Anger I thought I’d buried in a sacred place in my heart. Clearly it’s been festering beneath the surface all along, and all it took was a little gust of wind, one stolen glance, to uncover it. Turns out it’s alive and well, climbing rapidly like vines inside the walls of my chest, and it was threatening to take over my body as my eyes locked on hers.

My Review:

I cannot even begin to convey how this book make me feel. Once again I find myself blown away from Rita Branches writing! She has a way that gets you completely engrossed and the rest of the world fades away. This book was no exception. I swear I was crying or smiling in every chapter(seriously though I was ready to start ugly crying.)

Charlotte aka Charlie loosing her parents in a horrific way; shattering her life and dreams. She is forced to move in with her parents best friends and her ex best friend. The problem with living with Jacob is they hate each other passionately but it’s just a front. Charlie is barely surviving and doesn’t know how to handle Jake when she misses him so much. Jacob is holding huge secrets that force him to constantly push Charlie away but all he wants to do is mend her heart. Unfortunately life keeps punching the both of them in the face and throat, leaving them both broken and lost and not knowing how to find their way.

Loosing a loved one is one of the hardest things we will ever go through. Rita Branches depicts the sorrow and despair perfectly. You don’t even have to know the way it feels firsthand because you will feel every emotion that is coursing through the characters of this book. As much sadness as there is; there is also hope. Love conquers all and this book is a perfect depiction of the extent of that statement.

Many people will find different things/situations that they can relate to in this book. So many people suffer from depression, loneliness or suicidal thoughts and this book expresses the depth to what it is to feel those things. Jacob was the perfect exactly of what of a lot people need who go through these struggles. Even if you do not have experience with these emotions or circumstances, I would still recommend you take the time to read this book. You will learn so much and go on this amazing journey that we are fortunate enough to embark on.

EXCERPT:

Jacob

These two weeks had been hell for me.

I didn’t know how I was going to pull this off for the eight months I still had left in this hell of a town. My parents didn’t get me, and she was around all the time, suffocating me. My heart skipped a beat every time I heard her voice, and it doubled in speed when she was near me. I wouldn’t be able to stay away, I knew it. She was breaking my heart all over again.

I heard her at night, when she thought everyone was sleeping. I just sat on the floor, resting my head against the wall, and listen to her cry and throw up every other night.

I stayed there like a jerk, as if I didn’t give a crap about her or her feelings, but I cried. I missed her. I wanted to hold her at night and tell her that everything would be alright, but I couldn’t. I promised I would stay away—I couldn’t hurt her, anymore. I pushed my knees to my chest to hold myself together and to keep me from crumbling. Sometimes, I had to place my closed fist against my mouth, so she wouldn’t hear me sob. I wished she would have, though. I wished she would have opened the door and saw me sitting there, caring about her, suffering like she did.

My mom was getting suspicious about me. She knew about her, or at least that something wasn’t right. My face, the permanent dark circles under my eyes, and my lack of appetite wasn’t normal, though. I was okay, before her parents’ accident—I had started to pull myself together.

***

This night was especially bad. She stayed in the bathroom for hours. I had been on the other side, hearing her cry and wishing I could take it all away.

I was starting to get really scared for her. I left before my parents woke up, unable to face them and those disapproving looks, anymore, like I wasn’t doing anything right with my life. They wanted a perfect son and they didn’t have one.

I was in no condition to go to college—I couldn’t even imagine myself being closed behind four walls for another four or five years. I needed something to take my thoughts away—something that would fuel me with adrenaline. They wouldn’t approve of the plans I’d been making. They’d hate them, in fact, but I didn’t care, anymore, I just needed to get away.
