Long before Dani Reed and Micah Landry, there was the story of Deacon and Camille.
Camille Benoit loved to express herself on canvas and was a dreamer at heart. The small farm she was born and raised on bordered the Landry Plantation, providing her with prime real estate for daydreaming. Even though she spent a lot of time with her head in the clouds, one thing she was always certain about were her feelings for Deacon. He might’ve been two years older and one of her brother’s best friends, but none of that mattered to Cami.
Deacon Landry, older brother to Micah, was the local football star. The town might’ve put him on a pedestal, but he always had his feet firmly planted in the rich Louisiana soil. With all of his skills on and off the field, a good head on his shoulders, and a heart of gold, he was quite the catch, and everyone knew it, especially his long-time best friend, Cami.

I know we’ve done things slowly, but I’ve loved you since I knew what it meant to love someone. “

He is all her heart has ever known. Her past, present and future.  But will the future live up to her dreams?
Join Jiffy Kate in this second book of the Finding Focus series as they take you back to where it all started.
Sitting in front of a half-painted easel in the middle of my little studio with the window shades drawn for the perfect lighting, I stop painting and lay my brush to the side. As I wipe my hands on my smock, I listen closely as a siren from an emergency vehicle draws near.

Any sort of action is noticed in a town the size of French Settlement. If Ms. Becky burns a cake, the whole town knows about it. And the day Mr. Johnson’s truck got stuck in the pond, practically every person was there to witness the fire department getting it unstuck.

Yes, the fire department, because, generally, they don’t have a lot to keep them busy.

So, sirens this close to town, especially on a Saturday morning, are a rare thing.

I watch out the window and listen for a minute or two as the sirens seem to get closer. Unable to curb my curiosity, I walk from the back of the studio, through the gallery, and out onto the sidewalk.

No one is around. My SUV is the only vehicle on the street. So, it doesn’t surprise me when the sirens get further away. There must be something going on out on the highway.

My heart skips a beat because I hate thinking about anyone being in a wreck or anything like that. As I walk back into the gallery, I say a quick prayer for whoever it is. Normally, that’s enough to help me relax. I always pray when I drive by a wreck or see an ambulance fly by.

But, as I sit back down at my easel and pick my paint brush back up, my heart still feels like it’s in my throat.

As I wait for another minute, still hearing sirens off in the distance, I decide to calm my nerves with a call to Annie. Carter is staying out there with her and Sam this morning because my daddy and Kay went into Baton Rouge to buy a new sofa.

“Hey, honey.” Annie’s voice sounds calm and chipper, so I try to make my stomach take a cue from her.

“Hey, Annie.”

“How’s it going this morning? Everything alright?”

“I was calling to ask you the same,” I say, laughing at my paranoia. Since Carter came into my life, I have a tendency to be a bit over-protective. I now understand why my daddy was always keeping a tight rein on me when I was little. It would kill me when he wouldn’t let me do everything the boys did. But now I get it. I don’t know how I’d feel if Carter had been a girl. Being the mom of a boy is bad enough. It might be worse on some levels because boys can be such little dare devils.

“Everything is right as rain out here,” she says, with a clang of a pot in the background. “Me and Carter are whippin’ up some banana nut muffins.”

“Sounds delicious.”

“We’ll be sure to save you some.”

“Don’t let Deke eat them all.”

“You’re in luck. He went into the restaurant to finish up some paperwork.”

“I thought he was takin’ the day off.”

“Well, he said if you were gonna be busy all day at the gallery, he might as well get ahead on some ordering.”

“Okay,” I say, the nervous ball back in my stomach. “Did Micah go in with him?”

“No, Micah’s in Baton Rouge this mornin’. He must’ve stayed at the apartment last night.”

“Okay.”

“I think these muffins are ready to go in the oven. What do you think, Carter?” I can hear Carter telling her they’re ready. He loves being in the kitchen with Annie. I think he takes after his Uncle Micah in that sense. “Will we see ya for lunch?”

“Yeah, I should be done by then.”

After I hang up with Annie, I still can’t get the worry to go away. I think about taking a drive out to the highway just to check things out myself, but that would be silly. I’m not sure what’s going on, but whatever it is, I doubt they need an extra rubber-necker.

So instead, I sit back down on my stool and hit send on Deacon’s number, smiling as his handsome face comes up on the screen of my phone.

“It’s Deacon Landry. Sorry I missed your call. Please leave a message.”

I pull the phone away from my ear and frown at the screen, hitting end and immediately hitting the button to call again.

Voicemail.

Maybe he left his phone in his truck?

He does that sometimes.

Taking a deep breath as I try to stay calm, I begin to pace around the room as I call the restaurant. Normally, if Deacon’s doing paperwork, he won’t answer the phone, but if he’s at his desk and sees it’s me, he will.

After five rings, the long message for Pockets comes over the phone.

“Thank you for calling Pockets, Home of the Gator Pocket. Our hours are Monday through Thursday, eleven to eleven. Friday and Saturday, two to two. We’re located on Highway 16. You can’t miss us. Hope to see you soon!”

I don’t know why I listen to the entire message. It’s not like Deacon can answer once the voicemail picks up.

Staring at the phone, I hit redial for the restaurant, letting it ring until the message starts over.

Hang up.
Redial.

After three more tries, I call Deacon’s phone again.

Still no answer.

I can’t ignore the feeling in the pit of my stomach. There’s no way I can paint like this, so I might as well drive out to the restaurant and see for myself. I’m sure everything is fine, and I’ll have wasted fifteen minutes of my day, but I can’t relax until I know he’s okay.

As I pick up my purse and keys, my phone rings in my hand. I let out a relieved sigh until I see that it’s not Deacon who’s calling.

“Hello?”

“Cami.” Sam’s voice comes over the phone, and he sounds worried, which makes my heart beat even faster, and my knees feel weak. I don’t even need him to tell me something’s wrong. I know it. I can feel it deep in my bones.
In case you didn’t notice, there are two of us. We’re both from the south, one just a little further than the other.Jiff was born and raised in Louisiana. Daring the Bad Boy by Monica Murphy

Genre: YA Contemporary Romance

Release Date: August 22nd 2016

Entangled Teen Crush

Summary from Goodreads:

Truth or Dare was never this much fun…

Annie McFarland is sick of being a shy nobody. A session at summer camp seems like the perfect opportunity to reinvent herself—gain some confidence, kiss a boy, be whoever she wants to be. A few days in, she’s already set her sights on über-hottie Kyle. Too bad her fear of water keeps her away from the lake, where Kyle is always hanging out.

Jacob Fazio is at Camp Pine Ridge after one too many screw-ups. Junior counseling seems like punishment enough, but the rigid no-fraternizing-with-campers rules harsh his chill. When a night of Truth or Dare gets him roped into teaching Annie how to swim, she begs him to also teach her how to snag Kyle.

Late-night swim sessions turn into late-night kissing sessions…but there’s more on the line than just their hearts. If they get caught, Jake’s headed straight to juvie, but Annie’s more than ready to dare him to reveal the truth.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains references to drinking, sexual situations, adult language, and an intense bad boy hero who will melt your heart.

Excerpt:
Great. The rudest boy at camp just so happened to save my life. I hoped he wasn’t one of those types who expected me to be indebted to him for the rest of the summer or whatever.
I looked away and coughed, water filling my mouth so I had no choice but to avert my head and spit it out. My cheeks felt hot, and I couldn’t believe I was embarrassed, but old habits died hard, I guess.
He said nothing, just grabbed my hand and walked/ dragged me the rest of the way out of the water, until we were standing on the sandy beach. I heard feet thumping on the dock and I glanced up, watched in disbelief as the majority of my so-called friends and the boys from B7B ran off the dock. Not a one of them had stayed behind to see if I was okay.
Not a single one of them.
Were they scared they’d get in trouble? Would Jacob rat me out? He was the director’s nephew, after all. I needed to say something to him. I didn’t want to get in trouble. I didn’t want to be sent home, and I’m pretty sure he had the power to make both things happen.
Before I could say anything, though, Jacob grabbed my shoulders and gave them a little shake so I’d look up at him. His eyes were dark, his mouth set in a grim line, and he bent his knees a little so our gazes were even. “You really all right?” he asked, his tone firm.
I’d quit coughing, but my voice still came out slightly wheezy. “I’m fine.” My bones felt like jelly and I thought I might pass out from lack of oxygen, but yeah. I was great.
He squeezed my bare shoulders with his big hands, his fingers sliding over my thin bikini straps, and I realized I’d never stood this close to a boy before with so little clothing on. A shiver moved through me, and I tried to take a step back for much-needed distance, but he wouldn’t let me go.
“That was really stupid, jumping off the dock like that,” he said, his deep voice now full of irritation.
“Trust me, I wasn’t trying to impress you.” I couldn’t believe I’d said that. But I was offended that he basically just called me stupid.
“No kidding.” He released his hold on my shoulders and walked a few steps away, snatching up something off the beach. “And I definitely wasn’t impressed.”
I made an incredulous sound, one I usually saved for the privacy of my bedroom when no one else was around, and he sent me a look. I was reluctant to admit it was sort of a cute look, his dark eyebrows raised, as if he dared me to contradict him.
So I did.
“Are you going to write me up?” When he still said nothing, I continued. “You said you would earlier.” I glanced around, noticed that the dock was completely empty. Where was Kelsey, anyway? Did she leave me, too? “You want me to?” “N-no. O-of c-course n-not.” My teeth had started to chatter. I didn’t know if it was from the cold or the shock, or a combination of both, but I couldn’t make them stop.
“Did you bring a towel with you at least?” Jacob asked. When I shook my head, he muttered something that sounded distinctly like a curse word starting with the letter F. The sympathetic look he shot my way was surprising as he came back toward me, his hand thrust outward, a ball of fabric clutched in it. “Take this.”
I didn’t want him feeling sorry for me. And that didn’t look like a towel. “Wh-what i-is it?” I wrapped my arms around my middle, my fingers brushing against my goosebump-covered torso. I couldn’t stop shaking. It was like I had no control over my body.
He sighed and glanced to his left, then his right, like he wanted to make sure there was no one around before he stepped forward and stretched the dark fabric between his hands. “Don’t move,” he ordered, his tone bossy as he yanked the fabric over my head.
I jerked against his first touch, but otherwise I remained still. It was a giant hoodie that he slipped over my head. Warm and soft and a little sandy from when he’d abandoned it on the beach. The fabric clung to my damp skin and the hem fell to my thighs, covering me from my neck to almost my knees. I shoved my arms in the sleeves but they were so long, they swallowed my hands completely, even when I stretched my fingers out.
He stepped closer and reached behind my head, pulling the hood up so that it covered my soaked hair. Then he grabbed hold of the strings at the sweatshirt’s neck and tugged on them, so the hood cinched around my face tightly, his gaze never leaving mine. “Better?”
I nodded and took a deep breath, the shivering starting to subside, thank goodness. “Much.”
Jacob reached out and wiped one cheek, then the other, his thumb rough yet warm against my chilled skin. “You’re still wet.”
“I should p-probably take a shower.” I clamped my freezing lips shut. Why did I just say that? Showers meant naked, and I didn’t want to talk about getting naked with Jacob.

CUPCAKE OVERLOAD Synopsis:

One night I was out with my girls enjoying a much needed ladies night while wondering if one more dirty martini would push me over the edge. The next thing I knew, I was in the club’s bathroom listening to a woman screaming, “No,” and a man’s voice growling, “I know you want it.”

That asshole picked the wrong restroom, in the wrong club, at the wrong time.

Little did I know the asshole was Cade’s VP, and although we saved that woman from his clutches that night, she’d be found floating in a motel pool a month later.

Running a PI firm is a lot harder than taking pictures for one, especially when your professional life spills over into your personal one. I’m going through cupcakes like our new puppy goes through piddle pads, and if I’m not careful there’s bound to be a Cupcake Overload.

EXCERPT:

As I back out of her driveway, I’m left battling a live wire that’s come loose in my chest. Just the few moments I spent with her tonight have awakened something in me. Feelings I suppressed. Anger I’ve learned to let go of. Loss I’ve managed to cope with. And sadness I refused to let myself feel again.

Chloe Rivers.

I never thought I’d see her again, especially after the FOR SALE sign went up in her parent’s lawn. When Marco broke the news that she was coming back to housesit for the summer, I might have lost it a little. Not in front of Marco, of course. And it’s not like I punched a wall or started screaming or anything like that. That’s what Devon would have done. Not me.

The riptides of emotions I’ve bottled up over the past four years are capable of sending me into beast mode if I so desire, but that isn’t what happened. Instead, my heart began to race, sweat started beading at my scalp, and a flood of memories came sailing through, each one reminding me how badly Chloe Simone Rivers broke my heart.

I knew she’d be at the bar tonight. I also knew she would be surprised to see me. Marco has become a good friend—my best friend. He’s loyal. Not even Jazz knows the things we talk about, and I’d prefer to keep it that way.

The truth is, before walking into the musty bar, I wanted to see her. After four years, I was curious. What does she look like now? How does she dress? Does she still do that cute hair flip thing when she’s mad? Do her long lashes still scrape the top of her cheekbones when she closes her eyes?

But the moment I saw her again, something inside me, something that had been buried with my brother, rose to the surface. Everything about her screams familiarity, but she’s somehow … different. Her hair is as long as I remember it. She was beautiful back then, and she was radiant in the bar—even with the pain in her expression, the slump of her shoulders, and the flush in her cheeks as her eyes locked on mine. It was too much, too soon.

So I turned away, considering that possibly another day, preferably in a private place, would be a better time for us to talk. Or maybe there didn’t need to be another run-in. I got what I wanted. I saw her. She seems to be doing fine. But the pain in my chest won’t fucking go away when I think of her. Four years ago, she left without a single word.

What the hell was I doing? I was stupid to think that a surprise run-in with Chloe was the best thing for us. At that moment, as I walked away, my curiosity transformed into anger. Anger I thought I’d buried in a sacred place in my heart. Clearly it’s been festering beneath the surface all along, and all it took was a little gust of wind, one stolen glance, to uncover it. Turns out it’s alive and well, climbing rapidly like vines inside the walls of my chest, and it was threatening to take over my body as my eyes locked on hers.

My Review

The drama between Lucy and Harris continues in book 2. Immediately we get caught up in the what if and doubts that we would go through and would feel if we were Lucy. Lucy is seriously such a bad ass. She doesn’t take crap from anyone and she has no problem taking care of herself. She doesn’t need a bodyguard because she can more then handle herself. Besides her fierceness, I absolutely love the relationship she had with her family. When she puts her family through a big scare the ones that stood out the most were her twin little brothers. Everyone needs to be loved as all consuming as her family.

Unfortunately the drama with Jenna and her ex isn’t resolved. It completely escalated and all of your worse fears come true. All I wanted to go was jump into this book and start beating people up and locking them up for being awful. Once again we are left with a major cliff hanger.

Seriously guys you need to jump on this series. They are pretty quick reads so just get them all and get the party started!!

LUCY & HARRIS Blog Tour: Craving Lucy Review

CatchingLucyCatching Lucy (Lucy & Harris, #1) by Terri Anne Browning

Lucy

So yeah, my dad is a rock star; hes the drummer for Demons Wings. Big whoop. Honestly, the fame that comes with having a famous dad is not all that you think it might be. It sucks. You have no privacy. Oh yeah, and dont let me forget about the lunatics that want to do who knows what to you just to get famous. When I leave the house every morning I feel like my life isnt my own. Between the paparazzi, the fans, my bodyguard, and everything else I feel like Im part of the freak show in the circus most days.

It wasnt always like this, though. I didnt always feel like this. Once upon a time I had a best friend who helped me deal with this life that we both belonged to.

Harris

So yeah, my dad is a rock star; hes the drummer for OtherWorld. And Lucy was and always will be the only girl to ever know the real me. She was my best friend, my voice of reason. My SANITY. Maybe she outgrew me. But I will never outgrow her. Its been years since Ive seen her, and I miss her so damn bad. All I want is a chance to get back what weve lost, to have my best friend in my life again.

I wasnt counting on how grown up my friend might have gotten, how beautiful she is now. The more time I spend with this new Lucy, I have to wonder if I really want that old friendship backor if I want much, much more.

ROCKING KIN (Lucy & Harris, #3)

UN-SHATTERING LUCY (Lucy & Harris, #4) – Up for pre-order!
My Review

Wow, this book was really expectedly good. You know when you read a synopsis and it sounds really book but it never turns out to be that good; that was not the case. It was a quick read but well worth it.

Lucy and Harris grew up together in the rockstar world. Both of their dads were in famous bands so they had to grow up on the road and in the spotlight so they naturally bonded. They were incredibly close until one day Lucy realized her feelings had transformed into more than just friendship. She pushed Harris away until one day he sent her an email inviting her to his club. She had no choice but to go which is when her world gets turned upside down again. Now she has the epic battle of trying to keep her feelings out when she knows he’s the only one for her.

Waiting On Wednesday: Roman Crazy by Alice Clayton & Nina Bocci

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine to show upcoming releases that we can’t wait to read (aka going crazy waiting for). This weeks book is:
Roman Crazy (Broads Abroad, #1)

Roman Crazy (The Broads Abroad #1) by Alice Clayton, Nina Bocci

Paperback, 336 pages
Expected publication: September 13th 2016
Gallery Books
Avery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. She’s left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer with her best friend Daisy, licking her wounds—and perhaps a gelato or two. But when her American-expat friend throws her a welcome party on her first night, Avery’s thrown for a loop when she sees a man she never thought she’d see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi.

Marcello was the man—the one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage and—hey, that fettuccine is delicious! And so is Marcello…

Slipping easily into the good life of summertime in Rome, Avery spends her days exploring a city that makes art historians swoon, and her nights swooning over her unexpected what was old is new again romance. It’s heady, it’s fevered, it’s wanton, and it’s crazy. But could this really be her new life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twin-set cardigans and crustless sandwiches?

A celebration of great friendship, passionate romance, and wonderful food, Roman Crazy is a lighthearted story of second chances and living life to the fullest.

I love books like this because its like you can jump in and be on a small vacation while reading these. What are you “waiting on”?
